Way to go Bill…great post. There are many ways to eat a decent meal at many restaurants. You are right…much of the time it might just take a little adventure to pull it off and perhaps a bit of an imagination when you look at the menu. I will often ask to change this or that and 80% of the time restaurants are happy to do so.

I appreciate you going out and then sharing…the pictures are great as well.

Blessings!

Bill,
Small world... I've been to St. Arman's circle many times! I have family in Sarasota and visit often...... yet, I've never been to either of the two places you mentioned...yet! I'll be sure to stop in and visit next time and check them out!
That aside, I haven't found that it's difficult to eat healthy at a restaurant...just difficult to CHOOSE to eat healthy at a restaurant... <laugh> Dining out is something I really enjoy very much..... and I generally want to order something I don't make at home.... which usually means something decadent and not quite so 'healthy.' (Which is probably why I often end up having breakfast at Millie's when in Sarasota... <laugh>) Still, you make an excellent point.... and one I'm slowly working on. Tonight, we're headed to dinner and I already know I'm having a steak, a salad and a baked sweet potato... followed by peach bread pudding.... <laugh> Almost there........ ;-)

Have an awesome day,
Robin

Hi Bill,

It must be a real pleasure to have such great places to eat where you live. I'm in a rural area in Washington state and there are no decent restaurants within half an hours drive (or more) here. We've been searching for over 6 years. We'd have to make a trip into the city to find some dishes like you have shown here!

That being said, my husband and I are both great cooks and we've found that we can eat much better by adding the money we save from Not eating out to the food budget. We think of cooking as a favorite pastime so it works well for us.

I agree with Pat and Lorna, too... the breakfast does look awesome! Love spinach and egg white omelets and the tomatoes are a nice touch.

Happy eating!

Bill,
Thank you!! Awesome tips. I need to be reminded all the time to make healthy choices. Still working on it. But I know I can't just work on my head and heart-- gotta pay attention to my body too!

Bill,

Thanks for the info... and for giving us all hope that we can enjoy a good restaurant meal without giving up on nutrition. Now that you've given us a few great examples, we can come up with some other meals that would work for us as well. You've got our taste buds smiling!

The breakfast looks awesome!

Thanks,
~ Pat and Lorna

Hey Bill

I hate cardio too :)

But I do enjoy walking, not slow walking, but at a good pace to work up a sweat.

I can think back to my football years with all of the puking and I definitely do not miss it.

Bill,
I feel ya! Back when I started getting back into shape last November, I remembering posting on Facebook over and over, "when will cardio not suck?" Back then I was doing five days/week for an hour/day and it worked as I lost 40 pounds and have kept it off since March. Now I "just" do 3-4 days of cardio, 35 minutes/day plus yoga and light weights.

But the thing was/is, the repetition and the self-mastery. Can't say that I look forward to it, but I'm always glad to be doing my HIIT while I'm doing it. And during half of it I'm listening to teleseminars, etc. and the other half to loud, rocking music. So I'm grateful to be doing it and of course, as you say it IS the one true exercise that we need to stay healthy, all vanity aside.

Thanks for sharing,
Adam

Hi Bill.
love the anology of dirty water and the brain.

Here is what I think:
We can choose to think different thoughts and make it a habit to do that when we notice a thought we don't like.

We can be more aware of our thoughts, so if there are any old, nonconstructive thoughts we can change them as soon as they come up ( or sooner than before).

In regards to people if we choose to focus more on their positive aspects, we will see more of those in them.

Thanks for your article.
Have a great weekend.

Bill, great post! When you do just a little more than what others do, you definitely have that slight edge if you constantly do it on the day to day basis, the results will start to show up.

Hi Bill,

The timing of reading your post could not have been better...with the busy summer, I took a couple of months off from my gym (and personal trainer) and boy, I had no idea what a struggle it was going to be for me to workout...it's amazing to me how much I've gotten back out of shape in just seven/eight weeks time. One of the things that I've always struggled with is add cardio to my workout's...yet once I get going, like you noted too, I get pretty intense...just tough sometimes to get motivated to do what I know I need to for my body. I especially liked the quote you shared from Tony Horton (excellent!) ;-)
