Healthy Eating Habits
Wouldn’t it all be wonderful if we completed all the tasks in front of us, ate all the right foods, exercised every day and spent time with the one we loved like we should? Hmm… what a wonderful world that would be!
But if you are anything like me, that’s just not the case. We all live rushed lives. It seems as though we are continually on the go. We wake up already behind schedule…(I know some of us just like to sleep in)…rushing to drink that coffee, grab a quick bite, shower and out the door. In the car, racing through red lights swearing at the other drivers who just shouldn’t have a license. We make it to work or that meeting a few minutes late hoping the Boss didn’t see us walk, or run, in.
We have mountains of tasks in front of us that we just don’t seem to get completed, from that project to the laundry to working out. Was my childhood and my parents racing through life this way? Well we can do something about it.
Let’s DECIDE today to make a change, and not like one we hear in the political world. Let’s make a real change in our lives to break a habit, a bad habit and let us alone take responsibility for it. Let’s create some new habits that are good, worthy and allow us to succeed! That’s what I’m talking about!
When you decide to do it, and put in place the mechanisms to allow it to happen, then that’s when you’ll see real change. You will succeed in whatever that new thing was however small or large. Take eating for example. We tend to eat bad food because we are rushed and ill prepared to feed our bodies properly. Make the new habit and have good food on hand that’s quick and easy to either eat right out of the frig, or only takes a few minutes preparation. On the weekend, prepare a few meals in advance or increase the quantities so you’ll have a ready supply of left-overs just waiting to be re-heated for a yummy meal. (I love chili re-heated). Do this for one week and see how much success you’ll have. You’ll create some healthy eating habits.
Each day take a few minutes to do something in the category of “Exercise”. Yuck, he brought that word up. Yes I did, because I know you need it. How long does it take to go for a 20 minute walk around the block? 20 Minutes silly. So you do that and when you get home you feel that sense of accomplishment. The brain releases those endorphins that make you feel good, and you know what…it’s addictive. That’s what I want you to become. An addict. An addict on success, new habits that create more success in your life. Change up that exercise the next day for a 20 minute resistance one by doing some push ups or deep knee bends, or pulling on some resistance bands. You could even play with your dog and lift him over your head for a few reps, but get active…. you’ll love yourself for it.
Changing habits will empower you to reach goals, see success and take control of your life instead of life taking control of you. Visit my pages on Fitness or Shakeology for a quick meal replacement to help you succeed. I’m here for you, so write to me or join as a free club member here and use the free tools I’ll give you to help on the nutrition and exercise part any way.
Decide, Commit and Succeed! You will never go back to your old ways because you’ll love the new YOU!

“Bill, interesting thoughts.
However don’t you think it’s in fact a lot harder than implementing the way you said? You admitted having challenges too when you prefaced your post with this comment about living an ideal lifestyle: “But if you are anything like me, that’s just not the case.”
Healthy lifestyle changes are extremely hard for most westerners; I can’t comment for other cultures. And don’t underestimate what’s going on behind the scenes, for example emotional eating. Whipping up a few healthy meals will do nothing for that issue.
I’d love to read from you some indepth all-encompassing experiences of what worked to bring about lasting change.
Thanks for stimulating my interest.
Bill,
Yes, we are a society on the go. Even if we don’t work outside of the home, there is too much to do and grabbing whatever is in the fridge is an easy habit.
Love your idea of taking some time over the weekend to prepare food for the week. Any suggestions? I’m not a shake person, so I’d prefer some real healthy food ideas.
Thanks for the inspiration.
Hey Bill…not always an easy subject to tackle. There are so many issues involved with people’s health and how they care for themselves…but I like the easy steps. The truth is…that is what some people need…they don’t have other things weighing them down, they just are looking for some easy steps to follow to give their lives a better flow. Then there are people who have a difficult time changing simply because there are so many other issues at play.
Even just getting outside when you have been confined to being indoors all day has a myriad of health benefits…they may not be profound but it certainly can enliven someone’s day to just take a walk around the block. Thanks for the tips!
Hi Bill,
Thanks for the post. Healthy living is not an easy subject for people to take. I find that most people think they are doing o.k. and other know they are not but not sure what to do about them. You give some great tips here.
I am always intrigued by the concept of simple and easy. It seems to me that a lot of people mix them up. Simple does not equal easy and easy does not equal simple. In fact from my experience Simple things are usually very hard for people.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on how we can add great value to our lives.
Make it a great day!
God Bless,

Bill,
I like the simplicity in what you had to say. When I work with someone who has no idea where to start, I just try to guide them towards 3 things they can do right now and get started. Do those changes make a healthy lifestyle? No. But it can breed success which they can then build on.
You are SO right in that we can do something about it.
Hi Bill,
We all lead rushed lives but I always feel better when I get up earlier, have time to eat breakfast, eat fruit and veg, do some exercise. I have made a conscious effort to totally change my lifestyle this year.
It is hard but with the right mindset and focus I know that it is possible.
Thank you for the candid reminder.
Beth
It’s amazing, isn’t it? I guess it’s like they say… you are what you eat. But seriously.. the committment’s worth it i think.
